Information for picking the most suitable garage doors
Most polystyrene insulated door could be thicker but have a lower R-Value than polyurethane. Should you be looking for thermal efficiency as well as a high R-Value, don't let yourself be fooled by the depth of the door!
A polyurethane Garage Door might look thinner but actually offers a greater insulation R-value. That's due to how the insulation expands through the manufacturing process to tightly fill the cavity between the two steel panels as it bonds to the skins of the doorway.
Not only does this make the door better insulated, it also makes the door very powerful and helps minimize noise as the door works.
How long your door will survive, what type of punishment it might take, or even how much annual maintenance it'll need is strongly determined by the material used to make the door.
