While you may prefer to put the work off, this will most likely result in greater damages. Fixing shingles immediately will actually save you bigger bucks down the line. Plus there will be a lot less headache. If you maintain your roof, it'll last you a long time. When you must climb on the roof, wear some rubber boots. Even in dry conditions you will reduce the chance of slipping if you wear the right kind of boots. Do not put yourself in dangerous positions when on the roof.
